The Foundation’s project for 2021
The Foundation’s main project for 2021 is to financially support a crew of nine young people on a two week voyage in the Island Trust’s replica Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter ‘Pegasus’ in the 2021 Classic Channel Regatta. They will be on board for fourteen days in early July, initially sailing from Plymouth to Dartmouth for two days of racing there, before racing across the English Channel to St Helier in Jersey and then on to Paimpol in Brittany for a race around the Île de Bréhat. The final part of the voyage will to sail back across the Channel to Plymouth. When not sailing, the crew will be fully integrated into the other activities of the regatta.
The Island Trust is an accredited sail-training organisation affiliated to the Association of Sail Training Organisations and the Royal Yachting Association. The Foundation has had a highly successful collaboration with The Island Trust in running a similar voyage in Pegasus in 2019.
